The Bridge Family Center, founded in 1969, is a nonprofit agency offering a broad range of services for youth and families, particularly for children with special needs. It has developed a variety of strategies and programs, such as counseling and support groups, parenting services and youth development programs to address these needs. The center has also broadened its scope and expanded its outreach to the greater Hartford area of West Hartford, Conn., and serves more than 9,000 young people and families annually. The center, funded by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the State of Connecticut Departments of Children and Families, Education and Mental Health and Addiction Services, the town of West Hartford and private donations from individuals, foundations, corporations and organizations, is governed by a board of directors..
