Founded in 1912, the Cheshire Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency services. It maintains a fleet of fire engines, tankers, ambulances and utility vehicles. The department employs several firefighters and volunteers and provides its employees with training related to fire management and emergency medical services. It offers a variety of public safety programs throughout the year. The Cheshire Fire Department organizes fundraising activities and community events and operates several fire stations.
