History

Mayflower was started after a honeymoon to Washington D.C. The year was 1929 and when Ceil and Pinney returned home, they called their stock broker to cash in their wedding gifts from Ceil's family only to be told the money was lost when the market crashed. Ceil was a smart, money savvy woman and didn't believe the broker. She hired a lawyer who discovered the broker lied, the money was still theirs, and with that smart move Mayflower Laundry was born. In later years the company diversified into the drapery cleaning business, and now Drapemasters of Hartford specializes in contract window treatments for new commercial buildings. And Mayflower still operates their convenient drop off store at 266 Prospect Avenue in Hartford. You'll find old fashioned customer service and smiles everyday at Mayflower!

We also have a wonderful old fashioned service: we renovate and sterilize your old feather pillows. Regular, Queen and King sized feather pillows are returned to you as NEW! You will love this and sleep better knowing the dirt, dust, and waste of old feathers are gone and you are now sleeping on a sanitized and basically new pillow.
