Lewis Walpole Library
The Lewis Walpole Library, located in Farmington, Connecticut, is an internationally recognized research collection specializing in British eighteenth-century studies. Its extensive holdings include over 32,000 volumes, a significant portion of which are from Horace Walpole's renowned library at Strawberry Hill, alongside a vast array of manuscripts and the largest collection of eighteenth-century British graphic art outside the British Museum.
Set on a 14-acre campus featuring four historically significant structures, the library also hosts an active fellowship program and collaborates with other Yale libraries and departments to sponsor conferences, lectures, and exhibitions. While it primarily serves Yale-affiliated faculty, students, and staff, the library also welcomes non-Yale researchers, offering a unique opportunity to explore its rich collections in a dedicated Reading Room.
