Imagine stepping into Howard's Bookstore, nestled in the vibrant heart of Downtown Torrington, CT. This eclectic space goes beyond being just a bookstore; it's a cultural hub where live music, comedy, poetry readings, rap open mic nights, and community events come alive. Not just a haven for book lovers, Howard's also offers services for American and Western horse saddles, including purchases, repairs, and cleaning, adding a unique touch to its charm.

Formerly the site of Howard's shoe store, this literary oasis now resides in the historic Meara Building, which was acquired by John Noelke of Noelke Gallery in 2020. As you explore the shelves filled with literary treasures, you can sense the rich tapestry of history and community that permeates the air, making Howard's Bookstore not just a place to browse books, but a cultural landmark that invites you to immerse yourself in stories both written and unwritten.

It's a cool place, so stop in some time....You'll find cool books, as well as vintage shoestore accouterments and vintage shoes to view. Super cool and nostalgic!

Eclectic retro-chic bookstore that is also a hangout for artists and locals. The proprietor is friendly, witty, and a nationally known sculptor who uses one of the upstairs rooms as his workshop....
