Dr. Cindy Perry was born in the Philippines, and moved to northern New Jersey with her family at a young age. She received her undergraduate degree in biology at Villanova University, her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and completed her residency at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Dr. Perry has had over a decade of private practice experience in Stamford and Norwalk before finally settling into practice in her hometown of Darien, where she lives with her husband, two young boys, and golden retriever named Bailey. She often can be found in town on the sidelines cheering for her energetic boys at various sporting events, enjoying the beach with her family, taking long walks and runs with Bailey through town, on the golf course for some quiet time, or volunteering her time at the boys’ school and local organizations. Dr. Perry enjoys discussing infant care and counseling new parents, and guiding parents through various stages of their children’s development. She considers the relationships she has with her patients and their families from birth until they graduate college the best part of her job. She has a special interest in asthma prevention and care, and the challenges of medically complex patients. Dr. Perry is full of energy, and can be found in the office laughing and having fun with her patients! Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Janet Karpiak is a graduate of UMDNJ- New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Karpiak moved to Connecticut to complete a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency program at Yale University School of Medicine, and made Connecticut her new home. After 15 years in private practice in the Trumbull- Stratford area, caring for up to 4 generations of families, she joined the hospitalist team at Norwalk Hospital, to allow for more family time. Initially on the adult team, Dr. Karpiak quickly became involved in helping to set up a similar program in Pediatrics, where she continued for over 8 years.Missing the long term supportive relationships of outpatient primary care, Dr. Karpiak joined the staff at Norwalk Community Health Center where she continued to support and care for many families she met while working as a hospitalist. Dr. Karpiak has also been a member of the Norwalk Board of Health since 2010, and has been a medical examiner for the Greater Norwalk Child Advocacy Center since 2008. Dr. Karpiak is thrilled to be joining the team at Health Child who share similar ideals for a family centered practice. She has always enjoyed teaching, whether a child about their health, or medical students, residents in training, as well as other healthcare providers to work with families toward a common goal.Dr. Karpiak is a hands on person who enjoys many handcrafts, including knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch (preferably on linen), and has designed a number projects from scratch. She also enjoys gardening and walking, and hopes to explore as many trails in Connecticut as possible.
