American Eagle is among the largest federal credit union in Connecticut with more than 110,000 members and nearly $785 million in assets. The credit union serves most subsidiaries of the United Technologies Corporation and more than 300 sponsor employer groups, including WTIC-TV, BKM Office Furniture. Products and services offered include deposit, loan, electronic services and long term care insurance. Harry C. Smith, a Pratt & Whitney Aircraft s Employment Manager, and 14 fellow employees founded American Eagle Federal Credit Union in 1935. They brought East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Union to Pratt & Whitney to serve the credit needs of its employees. In 1996, East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Union changed its name to American Eagle Federal Credit Union. The credit union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration. It currently has 16 branches in Connecticut and one branch in Maine. The credit union s main location is in East Hartford, Conn.
