East Hampton High School

Portland High School provides educational classes to more than 1,000 students in grades nine through 12. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It provides various courses, such as English, math, science, social studies, language arts, special education, health, physical education, computer technology and business. The school has a library media center that provides computers, as well as variety of books, magazines, newspapers, online database and Internet resources for additional information to students. Portland High School has a guidance department that advises parents on the progress of their children through test interpretation, career planning, and academic progress and college placement. The school is operated by the Portland Public School District and is located in Portland, Conn.

Avon Middle School is a part of the Avon Public Schools District, for students of grades seven to eight. Each grade has three academic terms, each team includes English, social studies, science and math. The school s curriculum is grounded in public academic standards for what students should know and be able to do, relevant to the concerns of adolescents and based on how students learn best. Avon Middle School involves parents and communities in supporting student learning and healthy development. Students attending Avon Middle School take two-class periods of unified arts. These classes include art, music, drama, academic enrichment, band, choir, strings, physical education, health, family and consumer science and technology education. In addition, students choose to take either Spanish or French. The school also offers various extracurricular and sporting activities. Avon Middle School is located in Avon, Conn.
