Danielle E. Greenman, MD

Dr. Harvinder Sandhu specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, microsurgery, computer-assisted surgery, and the study and use of spinal biologics. He completed his training in spinal surgery at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and was subsequently Chief of the Spinal Surgery Service at UCLA until 1997. At that time he was recruited to join the staff at Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Sandhu has more than 75 peer reviewed scientific publications in areas such as biologic enhancement of spinal surgery and novel minimally invasive management of spinal disorders. He has received research awards from the North American Spine Society, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, including the prestigious Volvo Award in Spinal Research. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Sandhu is actively engaged in the research, development, and invention of a variety of medical devices and instruments used in spinal surgery. He holds several patents involving the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders.

Dr. Cynthia Kahlenberg is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction, including primary hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and complex revision hip and knee replacement. She performs both anterior and posterior hip replacement. Dr. Kahlenberg uses computer navigation and minimally-invasive techniques to achieve individualized patient treatment goals while utilizing the latest surgical techniques, technology, and research to provide the best possible care and outcomes for her patients. As an undergraduate at Dartmouth College, Dr. Kahlenberg was a member of the National Ski Patrol, which sparked her interest in orthopedics. She obtained her MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed a Master of Public Health degree at Harvard University. Dr. Kahlenberg completed her orthopedic surgical residency at HSS and then completed an additional year of specialized training at HSS focusing on robotic and computer-navigated joint replacement, minimally-invasive joint replacement, partial knee replacement, and complex revision surgery of the hip and knee. She served as chief fellow during this time. Dr. Kahlenberg is actively engaged in research focused on increasing patient satisfaction with primary total hip and knee replacement and partial knee replacement. As a resident, she was awarded the Lewis Clark Wagner MD Chief Resident Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Clinical/Translational Research. Her research has been presented at orthopedic surgery meetings worldwide. She is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
