about community music school Located in the Centerbrook section of Essex, Connecticut, Community Music School has provided outstanding voice and instrumental instruction to adults and children since 1983. Our professional faculty and staff and their strong commitment to excellence makes the Community Music School a very special place indeed. Operated on a non-profit basis, we offer a wide range of opportunities for each student to learn and express a love of music at affordable rates and convenient times throughout the year. Each week, students from more than 25 area towns join us for music classes and private lessons. A typical student might be a seventh-grader from Old Saybrook studying clarinet or a high school junior from Killingworth learning electric guitar taking a weekly 1/2-hour lesson. There are many others, too preschoolers in our Kindermusik program, adults of all ages, Suzuki students, young people with special needs, and professional musicians.
