Channel Alloys

Channel Corporation is an independent master distributor of heat treated aluminum mill products. Over the course of three generations, we have evolved and adapted to become a leader in anticipating and meeting the needs of the ongoing changes in the aluminum distribution industry. As a dedicated independent Mill Depot and Master Distributor of heat treated aluminum products, Channel maintains depot stock in 6 different US locations: 1944: A.B. ( Bert ) Howard establishes A.B. Howard Company on Manhattan Island in New York City importing aluminum mill products to the United States. From the beginning, Bert saw the importance of supplying American distributors with high quality mill products. Initially, Bert supplied specialty non-heat treated products from Italy. These include high purity 1000 series alloys for the lighting and nameplate industries and deep drawing quality circles in 3000 series alloys. 1968: Bert's son Peter assumes responsibility for the business. Always re-evaluating the needs of the market, heat treated products begin to form a significant part of the product line. As is the case today, the most prevalent alloy is 6061 in sheet, plate, and rod. 1983: A.B. Howard Company evolves into Specialty Metals Corporation ( with its Canadian affiliate SMC Aluminum & Stainless Ltd ) and expands both its presence and product line in a continuous effort to evolve with Service Center Industry. While most previous sales had been on a mill direct basis, the 1980's brings deliveries to fit your needsand introduces the distributor depot programs of today as a way to bridge the gap between current needs and mill deliveries. 1994: With the third generation, we evolve into a traditional Mill Stockist and become Channel Corporation. With Depot in Los Angeles and New Jersey, we carry 6061 large rounds, sheet, plate, and tread plate.
