The Department of Public Works is governed by the City of Hartford in Connecticut. It is responsible for the maintenance of city's physical infrastructure that includes parks, grounds, public buildings and city-owned vehicles. The department offers waste and recycling collection, street maintenance and sweeping, snow and ice removal, property clean-up, traffic control and event support services. It administers the Leaf Composted Give Back Program. The Department of Public Works also operates a park division that is involved in the maintenance of greenhouse, horticultural medians, athletic fields and cemeteries. In addition, its transportation division provides street design and pavement repair and construction services.
