Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is one of the largest unions of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations in Connecticut. The union represents approximately 35,000 employees in the state and local government, boards of education and private sector. It operates the Labor Education Institute, which provides educational programs to its members, leaders and staff. Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is a part of the State Employee Bargaining Agent Coalition. The union offers the Council 4 PEOPLE Program. Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is affiliated with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees International Union in the District of Columbia.
