Via Mobility Services

Special Transit is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes independence and self-sufficiency for people with limited mobility. Established in 1979, its paratransit program includes low-cost and wheelchair-accessible transportation in small buses. The organization serves the residents of Longmont and Adam counties in Colorado. Special Transit also conducts a free training program designed to teach adults and people with disabilities to use public transportation safely. It collaborates with the American Red Cross to provide transportation services using volunteer drivers and private cars. The organization s training sessions include topics related to initial assessment, practice outings and traveling information. It maintains a human resources department and the organization s staff includes bus drivers, mechanics, detailers and senior managers. Special Transit is located in Boulder, Colo.
