History

My Mom and Dad bought an old gas station in 1975 from Cecil Carpenter on Main Street in Silt. With help from Ralph Long, who at that time owned several stores including Factory Surplus in Glenwood Springs, my parents stuffed the old gas station with hardware and tools. I remember trips to a huge warehouse in Denver where Ralph would let us pick out tools, write them down on a notebook and not pay him until after we sold them. In 1978 my Dad along with friends and several patrons from the Silt Bar built the 2 story 10,000 sq ft block building for the hardware store with apartments and a used and closeout shop we call
