Southwest Research Institute

Founded in 1947, Southwest Research Institute, also known as SwRI, is an independent, nonprofit applied research and development organization. With more than 10 technical divisions, it maintains a staff of over 3,300 professionals who specialize in the creation and transfer of technology in the field of engineering and the physical sciences. The institute is spread over an area of more than 1,200 acres and features laboratories, test facilities, workshops and offices. Southwest Research Institute works to ensure that products supplied and services performed for clients conform to quality requirements. Its quality systems department establishes quality policies. The institute conducts research activities in the areas of aerospace electronics and information technology, applied physics, automation and data, systems, chemistry and chemical engineering, and training, simulation and performance improvement.
