The San Juan County Historical Society (SJCHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of San Juan County, Colorado. Established in 1964, SJCHS focuses on the county's mining heritage, which played a vital role in its development, encompassing various industries such as transportation, toll roads, mining operations, mills, smelters, boarding houses, and support towns. With properties including the Mayflower Mill, Little Nation Mill, Silverton Northern Engine House, Casey Jones caboose, and Silverton Power Station, SJCHS operates the Mining Heritage Center, the 1902 County Jail Museum, the Mayflower Mill Tour, and the Allen Nossaman Memorial Archive.
