El Paso County Sheriff's Office offers various services for crime prevention. It is organized into bureaus that include the detentions bureau, law enforcement and support service bureau. These bureaus are further divided in various divisions. It has civil processing, tax collection, detectives and communications departments. The sheriff s office provides training programs for its deputies covering a variety of disciplines, such as firearms, self-defense, defensive and tactical driving, radar certification and physical fitness instructions. It has a data processing department offering various internal accounting support services. The office s patrol division includes full-time motorcycle officers and alternate rider. It also offers various safety tips and programs to seniors and children. The sheriff s office has a special response team that handles hostage rescues, barricaded suspects, civil disorders, riots and disorderly crowds through active shooters and surveillance operations. It is located in Colorado Springs, Colo.
