Dr. Elizabeth Rook is a rheumatologist (physician) who helps patients living with arthritis and autoimmune diseases. She believes whole-body healing comes from a combination of nutrition, movement, alternative and traditional medical treatments, and mental and emotional awareness. These interventions bring relief to patients with both acute and chronic disease conditions. After completing her undergraduate degree at The University of Vermont, she went on to earn a Master's degree in Biomedical Ethics from Case Western Reserve University. She later received a Master's degree in Public Health and her doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She holds dual board certifications in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology after completing her training at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. She also maintains a coaching certificate from Precision Nutrition and is regularly seeking and learning new mindset, growth, and self-development tools to help her patients live their best lives.

She combines her philosophy and approach - holistic personalized quality care - with a bedside manner that resembles caring for her family members. So basically, shes a perfect fit for Family Health West and as a caregiver in the FHW Arthritis & Rheumatology Clinic.For more than a decade, Dr. Benvenutti has been training the next generation of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine physicians and treating patients for autoimmune, arthritis, renal diseases, inflammatory related health challenges and more. Coming to Western Colorado as one of only a small handful of arthritis specialists allows Dr. Benvenutti to serve a large variety of patients and provide patients with a well versed caregiver without extensive travel. We think this is a win-win!She is a board certified Internal Medicine and Rheumatologist, originating from the great state of Mississippi. She attended the University of Southern Alabama for her undergraduate degree in nursing, followed by medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and internal medicine training at the University of Tennessee/Chattanooga. She completed her Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Toledo Medical Center.She has a passion for winter sports, so Colorado is a great fit for Dr. Benvenutti allowing her to ski and snowshoe. She also fills her cup with hikes and doing indoor activities like pilates and working out on the Peloton. Ask her who her favorite Peloton coach is!Dr. Benvenutt treats pediatric rheumatology patients ages 12 and up.She treats the following rheumatological conditions: lupus, psoriasis, juvenile RA. Dr. Gavin describes himself as a firm believer in the therapeutic power of longitudinal relationships between patients and physicians. He greatly values the opportunity to practice in a field of rapid scientific advancement, lifelong learning, and multi-disciplinary collaborations to provide the best possible care and treatments to his patients. This philosophy perfectly aligns with Family Health West's values and culture.Dr. Gavin says he is fascinated by the complexity of systemic rheumatic disease in terms of diagnosis and management. Rheumatic disease can dramatically impact a persons quality of life, and he gets personal fulfillment by leveraging his education and formal training, alongside the experiences of creating a positive impact on the lives of his patients - ultimately altering the course of the disease.Dr. Gavin grew up in New Mexico but has also traveled and lived in several other states. His patients consistently rate him high on compassion, optimism, and great listening skills. He considers his treatment specialties to be general rheumatology, including rheumatoid arthritis, crystalline arthropathy (gout and CPPD/pseudogout), psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogrens syndrome, sarcoidosis, inflammatory myositis, scleroderma, spondyloarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, and osteoporosis.Personal InterestsJust as he enjoys the variety of patients he treats, his self-care often includes spending time outside and exploring the beauty of western Colorado. He says anything active is his jam, along with suffering the eternal disappointment that is Texas A&M football.
