After nine years of government work, I started my own practice. My first case as a private attorney was a fourth offense DUI for someone sleeping in his car in the parking lot. Despite his record, he was not really driving on this occasion. We went to jury trial. The Not Guilty verdict was extremely gratifying. Soon after this, I had a felony drug case Dismissed after all evidence was thrown out of court in a suppression hearing where the judge found the police story was not credible. After helping these people, I knew I was a defense attorney for life!
