PBS&J got its start in late 1959, when Howard Post, an engineer with the Florida State Road Department, was offered an opportunity by to help create Miami Lakes, one of the first planned new towns in Florida. Post, with fellow engineers, George Mooney, Robert Schuh and John Buckley, established a new corporation to handle the assignment. Each contributed to the $500 initial working capital.
