Family & Youth Initiatives

Family & Youth Initiatives serves over 350 Chaffee County youth and families a year through three programs including Chaffee County Mentors, Nurturing Parenting Program and Youth @ Crossroads. Ensuring Chaffee County youth and families are the safest, most healthy and self sufficient in Colorado. Family & Youth Initiatives publishes a monthly newsletter, you may download it here in PDF format: Family & Youth Initiatives "began" in 2006. The organization was born out of the Build A Generation planning process which helped to spearhead prevention programs including and Boys & Girls Club of Chaffee County to reduce risks and increase opportunities, recognition and skills for local youth and families. After a three-month process looking at pros and cons of co-locating programs and services under one roof, and Nurturing Parenting Program came together under the umbrella of Family & Youth Initiatives, to streamline and coordinate youth and family programs within the community. Family & Youth Initiatives is a prevention division within Chaffee County Health and Human Services. Our mission is a commitment to providing evidenced-based prevention programs to promote safety, health and self sufficiency among Chaffee County youth and families. Programs include mentoring, parenting and educational/recreation programs. 70% of funding comes from grants and community support.
