Established in 1971, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division is a part of the state of Colorado. The division develops and advocates for services to reduce substance use disorders. It works to reduce abuse-associated illnesses and deaths. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division also develops and enforces regulations for treatment programs. The division offers prevention services in partnerships with federal and state entities. It provides a variety of treatment programs for drug addiction. The division offers medical, mental health and HIV prevention services. Its field managers are responsible for monitoring programs and responding to complaints about services. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division additionally licenses and monitors more than 400 treatment provider agencies.
