After graduation, he practiced general dentistry for one year before following his passion for oral surgery. He completed a 1 year general practice residency with an emphasis in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loyola Hospital of Chicago. He completed his residency in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at UCLA/Harbor Medical Center in 1998 and became Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2003 and recently became re-certified in 2013. For over 14 years before moving to Colorado, Dr. Barney enjoyed his thriving private practice in the California costal communities of Palos Verdes, San Pedro, and Torrance.
