Blessed Sacrament Catholic School

History

In 1912, six lots on the corner of Montview Boulevard and Elm Street were purchased and a donation of two adjoining lots was made forming Blessed Sacrament Parish. Ten years later, the Sisters of Loretto accepted charge of the school, and in the fall of 1922, 57 pupils were enrolled and a vital and challenging educational institution was born. Blessed Sacrament now enrolls more than 300 students from 2 1/2 year old preschoolers to 8th graders preparing to enter high school. The strong core curriculum is enhanced by a wide range of specials classes, athletic teams, after school enrichment programs, and even a summer camp. Through more than 90 years of development, Blessed Sacrament has stayed true to its values of academic scholarship, community service, and development of spirituality. We continue the legacy started by the Sisters of Loretto in 1922 in preparing students as responsible, self-respecting, well-educated citizens.

As an Early Childhood through 8th Grade co-educational Archdiocese of Denver Catholic school, Blessed Sacrament proudly offers distinct, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate programs that are attuned to the various needs of each age group. Our outstanding faculty, staff, and community proudly uphold the tradition, established in 1922, of investing in the future of our children and our Catholic faith. We provide an open and welcoming environment for all faiths and cultures. We present a comprehensive and challenging curriculum to students at all grade levels. Our students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills annually as part of our standardized testing program and on average demonstrate proficiency two grades above grade level. Our preschool program is Qualistar rated, and we are participants in the Denver Preschool Program. Graduates of Blessed Sacrament are accepted and well-prepared to attend Denver's most challenging secondary programs.
