Academy Charter

Academy Charter School is a public school operated by parents, educators and community members. The school provides educational instruction to students from grades kindergarten through eight. Its curriculum is based on Core Knowledge series program. The school also utilizes programs, such as Saxon and Prentice Hall for mathematics, Open Court Reading Program, Shurley Grammar Program, Spell It-Write Spelling Program and Wild Goose Science. In mathematics, students are assessed and grouped according to their mastery levels, allowing them to work at, above or below grade level. In reading, the school assesses children s individual instructional level, and teaches them at their level. The Open Court Reading Program emphasizes phonetic development in the primary grades and anthologies in grades four and five. In addition to the regular classroom subjects, the school offers classes in physical education, music, art, Spanish and computer technology. Academy Charter School is located in Castle Rock, Colo.
