I've been studying guitar and music professionally for over 30 years. As a concert artist, I have worked with all of my passion and dedication on the refinement of my own playing. I teach students from children to adults, and from beginners to professional musicians. At my discretion, I often encourage talented and dedicated students by providing scholarships if needed. My students have won awards at the United States International Music Competition, Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Youth Competition, South Bay Guitar Society Adjudication, ABRSM, and the Royal Conservatory examinations. Some continued their studies at various music schools such as San Francisco Conservatory and Juilliard Pre-College. In my teaching I particularly focus on the following aspects of playing: 1.Music reading skills, knowledge of fingerboard and sight-reading skills 2.Creating practice regimens 3.Formation of good habits 4.Awareness and reduction of muscular tension 5.Fullness, roundness and power of tone 6.Development of speed and accuracy including scales and arpeggios 7.Rhythmic precision 8.Musicality including phrasing and expression using all available expression tools like vibrato, rubato, color and articulation 9.How to deal with performance anxiety 10.Choosing and developing thematic or varied repertoire for concert programs I love sharing my knowledge. I emphasize development of technical ability because I believe it is inseparable from musical expression.
