Woody Mankowski - Vocal and Saxophone Lessons
Photos
History
I graduated from UW-Green Bay with a Music Performance degree in 1989. After several years on the road, I began teaching private saxophone lessons in 1996, starting with only one student, who went on to become a professional saxophonist. Also that same year, I started teaching at Lawrence University, where I stayed for 6 years. I did studio vocal work regularly for 25 years, and sang and played in bands and orchestras professionally during that time through the present. I moved to South Pasadena in 2015.
Specialties
Regarding vocals, my genres of expertise are Rock, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Pop, and Country singing styles. I can teach techniques like how and when to use vibrato. We will improve the tone of your singing voice, and increase your range without damaging your vocal cords. We'll clean up your diction, interpretation, intonation, time, articulation and dynamics. For saxophonists, I specialize in teaching jazz saxophone techniques, improvisation, and theory. I'll show you how, what, and how much to practice. I'm fluent in all music styles including classical. Our goal will be for you to achieve the sound that you want on your instrument.
