History

I've been shooting non-stop since my mother gave me a camera as a kid. I started shooting professionally as a teenager, doing portraits for people and extra printing for my mentors. Though I began a career as a teacher during college, within a few years of graduation photography had stolen my heart. I've followed my camera around since and it's proven a delicious challenge. What began as portraiture has morphed - the trick is always figuring out how to do what I love in a way that benefits others and gives them what they need, whether it's a picture of themselves, of their loved ones, their favorite artist, or somewhere beautiful they've never been.

Specialties

Willa shoots traditional B&W 35mm film and prints all her own work in a wet darkroom. She specializes in documentary portraiture, whether for families, musicians and bands, or as headshots. Performance photography is also a favorite. She emphasizes real photographs of real people - not grizzly or exposed, but joyfully true. Willa believes strongly that her job is to take a photograph of You, not her idea of you.
