Established as a residence park for middle-class families, it was made possible by the completion of the Twin Peaks Tunnel in 1918, which facilitated access to this model home community.

The Westwood Park Association, founded in 1917, serves to keep residents informed about community activities and maintain the neighborhood's architectural integrity. In 2024, the association achieved historic landmark status for the neighborhood's iconic gates and pillars, ensuring their preservation for future generations to enjoy.
