Salisbury High School is a fully accredited high school that has served the educational needs of students for more than twenty-five years. Salisbury has been recognized as a Model School by the California Continuation Education Association ( CCEA ) for this year. Our mission is to "treat all students as individuals who will be encouraged to meet their potential, " and to "prepare all students for work or higher education and to develop the personal and social skills necessary to succeed in the future." To meet student needs, the Salisbury staff offers a flexible, self-paced curriculum that meets State and district graduation requirements while allowing students to grow in their capacity and ability to experience academic success. Salisbury primarily serves high school juniors and seniors ages 16 to 18. Offering a full day schedule, Salisbury High School features a concentration of academic classes and course work in the morning hours, and a variety of physical education, fine arts, and elective opportunities in the afternoon. Some examples of class offerings include: current events debate class, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, herpetology, poetry, Algebra, World War II, snow boarding, Olympic shooting, ceramics, personal fitness, and community action ( a community volunteer class ). Some programs include ; Friday Night Live and the Ide Adobe student docent program at Ide Adobe State Park. Salisbury High staff strive to create a safe and welcoming school environment, where the curriculum is interesting, challenging, and relevant, and where a student's academic progress and social-emotional growth are closely monitored and responded to with the appropriate attention and resources. In a recent student survey, 73% of the student body acknowledged that they considered themselves to be successful at Salisbury, 92% of students said their attendance had improved since coming to Salisbury, and 98% of students said that they "liked this school."
