History
Vidiots was opened as an alternative video store in 1985 by L.A. natives Patty Polinger and Cathy Tauber. For 32 years Vidiots served its devoted community via the iconic Santa Monica storefront, which shuttered in 2017 in the wake of rising costs. Vidiots' new home is the historic Eagle Theatre in Eagle Rock, which ran as an independent movie theater from 1929 until 2000. Vidiots will operate seven-days-a-week and offer screenings and special programs, DVD and BluRay rentals, concessions, and a light menu with beer and wine. The main theater will be 250 seats, with 35mm and DCP projection and state-of-the-art sound. A second, smaller screening and community event space for 40 will be ideal for education programs, screenings, workshops, and receptions.
