HistorySean & Stephanie opened Learn The Beat in Garden Valley in 2012 with the goal of making a living by doing the things they love. They started out with enough money to make rent, the combined money in their pockets for merchandise, & whatever skills they shared between them. With a whim & a deep breath they lept off the cliff to try their hand at opening their own store. Many long hours of determination & hard work later, they, somehow, still find that they have a little shop to call their own. The wonderful small town community they live in has accepted them with open arms & been a huge part of why they out grew their old location in their little Garden Valley store front & moved into the new location at The Shannon Knox House. This beautiful pre Victorian home is the oldest house in Georgetown. Surviving 3 fires, it has stood since 1853. They are humbled to be able to call this beautiful historic house their new home. Learn the beat still keeps growing with the support of its friends.SpecialtiesWe offer music lessons for all ages in guitar, bass, drum, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, vocals, keyboard/piano, recording, song writing. Individual, group, specialty, & seasonal classes are available. Stop in to the Historic Shannon Knox house Mon. thru Fri. 3 pm to 8 pm to sign up today :) We offer many other music services like repairs, recording & production, jam sessions, band practice, & fun events as well as stock instruments, music supplies, holistic herbal remedies, candles, lotions, soaps, aromatherapy, crystals, arts & crafts. They allow people to release stress, connect with others, be unique, have fun, learn the rewards of dedication & practice in a chosen craft, they exercise the left & right sides of the brain, the logical & spacial, in ways that help children learn better in school & release repressed emotional blockages caused from stress at work for adults. They are skills necessary & invaluable in the work force today.Mostly we love helping people become more confident with themselves & finding their own way of expressing themselves.
