Tree People
TreePeople, founded over 50 years ago by a teenager, is a non-profit organization based in Escondido, CA, dedicated to inspiring and supporting the people of Southern California to plant and care for trees, harvest rainwater, and rejuvenate landscapes. With a focus on community engagement, education, and environmental stewardship, TreePeople has mobilized over 3 million individuals to plant and care for more than 3 million trees, fostering a greener, shadier, and more water-secure urban environment.
Through various initiatives such as education programs, forestry projects, park stewardship, policy research, and community outreach, TreePeople works towards creating a sustainable and equitable future for Southern California. By training volunteers, conducting research, and advocating for nature-based solutions, TreePeople aims to build a resilient ecosystem and empower the next generation of eco-conscious leaders in the region.
