TherOx was founded in 1994 to develop, manufacture and market minimally invasive products for the delivery of aqueous oxygen to ischemic tissues. TherOx developed aqueous oxygen (AO) technology to treat oxygen-deprived tissues and conditions. Using the TherOx AO System, hyperbaric levels of oxygen can be delivered to the heart to salvage tissue affected by acute myocardial infarction. This is the first of many applications for TherOx technology platform. Using patented technology, the TherOx AO System produces sterile AO solution on-demand from hospital-supplied, medical-grade oxygen and sterile, physician-prescribed saline. TherOx is a privately held company that is located in Irvine, Calif.
