History

Diane has been serving delicious food to visitors and locals since 2006.

Specialties

The Getaway Cafe serves alpine comfort cuisine in South Lake Tahoe, California. The Getaway Cafe has emerged as a local favorite over the past few years. Many Meyers residents ride their bikes over during the summer, and the outside dining area is dog-friendly which is rare for a South Lake Tahoe restaurant. All of our sauces and salad dressings are homemade, and we only use fresh baked bread for our sandwiches and other bread products. We're certainly known for our burgers and our creative, gourmet breakfast menu! You must try our signature dish, the coconut-crusted french toast! The extensive wine list is evident of the influence of Diane Guth, a sommelier and certified wine specialist in California. The Getaway Cafe specializes in local wines, not just vintages from Napa and Sonoma.

The most amazing food! The Bloody Mary and mimosa hit the spot and the omelets tasted like a party in your mouth!! You have GOT to visit the Getaway Cafe when you are in or near South Lake Tahoe!

What a lovely place to stop for breakfast on your way out of South Shore (not to suggest an "in bound lunch" wouldn't be equally delightful). There was indoor dining but we chose outdoor. Diane,...
