History

What's The Story Behind The Blind Cafe? The Blind cafe was started by Rosh, an American singer-songwriter, who attended a dark cafe in Reykjavik, Iceland while on tour in 2007. After engaging socially in the dark, he designed an intimate live music listening and dinner experience held in 100% darkness. The dinner, designed to help break down social barriers through the 'act of breaking bread' in community and the music performed by his band 'Rosh & the Blind Cafe Orchestra' with other featured musical guests. In 2010, Rosh met Rick Hammond, a legally blind poet and Richie Flores, a legally blind singer-songwriter and invited them to contribute to the experience and that's how the blind awareness / social impact Q&A became part of their signature program, Blind Cafe Experience ~ An award winning positive social change discussion, dinner & music in the dark experience. Facilitated by legally blind staff to lead the social impact discussion, the three part dinner, music and discussion c
