History

Temple City Bike Shop began in 1977 when John Spielmann Sr. bought an existing shop with 9 Schwinn bikes, a small assortment of parts, and about 10 dumpsters worth of junk. John had been a bike enthusiast & had a hobby of restoring old bikes. His son JJ would work on the weekend. The business quickly increased & a few months in we were fortunate to meet Ron Mckiernan & his sister Valerie. Ron was offered, & he accepted a job. Ron, the current & long time manager is still here. Valerie worked here for many years & is now a manager with Chase Bank in Glendora. They both raced professionally for JMC Bicycles in those early years. The shops family & bmx origins are still evident today, but we have expanded into middle to upper end road, mountain, hybrid,comfort, & fixie bikes as well. During the years JJ and his friend John Slawta of Land Shark Bicycle fame toured on their bikes self supported twice from Los Angeles to Montana & Canada. Both Ron & JJ are past road & mountain bike racers.

We specialize in no pressure, high quality service. We repair all brands & levels of bicycles from family bikes to top end Pro road and mountainbikes. Between Ron, Dave ,& JJ there is over 100 years of mechanical and service experience! Custom wheel building, hydraulic brake bleeding, BG bicycle fitting are just a few of the services we offer. We also have a large selection of clothing, Oakley & Rudy sunglasses, shoes, helmets, car mounted racks, and most cycling accessories you can think of. Finally we will go out of our way to search for hard to find items, & to satisfy the customer.
