About Tristar Tristar Transload, Inc was founded in 1996 in Portland, OR by lumber industry veteran, Darold Howe as a transload serving regional lumber mills and lumber wholesalers located primarily on the Union Pacific ( UP ) Railroad. Lumber trader Peter Howe joined Tristar Transload, Inc a year later, and in 1999, Tristar Transload PNW, Inc was formed, moving to a new location at the Port of Portland as a transloading solution on the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad ( BNSF ). In 2005, Tristar was named as the BNSF Premier Transload for the Portland area, and the company settled into its headquarters at the Port of of Vancouver WA, in a custom designed and built 13-acre facility with a capacity of 22 cars per day, including a 100-foot boxcar loading ramp and a 12, 000 square foot storage shed. Also during 2005, Tristar was selected by the BNSF to be the primary operator of the Logistics Center Fontana in Fontana, CA. Tristar Companies is wholly owned by Peter Howe as of the fourth quarter of 2007. With these two locations in place, Tristar is now offering customers an end-to-end transload solution from the origination of its product manufacturing point in the Pacific Northwest to its consumer destination point in Southern California. Peter has served Tristar as President and shareholder since its inception in 1999. He brings over 12 years of experience in the lumber industry, including over eight years in the transloading business. Prior to founding Tristar Transload PNW, Peter worked for four years with Tristar Transload, Inc in Portland, OR as a Partner in the business serving as Director of Sales & Marketing. In this role, he helped grow the company's customer base and overall output as well as managing day-to-day operations. Prior to joining Tristar Transload, Inc, Peter was with Buckeye Pacific Corporation, a part of the Forest Cities Trading Group, where he was a successful lumber broker. Peter was born and raised in Portland, OR. He graduated from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas with a degree in Communications and Public Relations.
