Located in Huntington Park, Calif., the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation Head Start is a federally-funded program for preschool children aged between 3 and 5 years. It provides services to more than 1,000 families in the cities of Huntington Park, South Gate, Vernon, Walnut Park, and the Florence area in California. The home-based program works in partnership with parents, and organizes several group socialization activities that develop social, emotional and intellectual skills of children. Its child development program enhances opportunities for a child to become a healthy and happy learner. It provides a wide range of services, such as parent involvement, health, education and social services.
