Dr. Stephen Schendel is a plastic and maxillofacial surgeon and Director of the California Craniofacial Institute. Known as the surgeons surgeon, he specializes in jaw surgery and complex craniofacial conditions, as well as cosmetic facial surgery. He is one of only a few elite surgeons in the world to be double board certified in both facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well maxillofacial and craniofacial surgery. Having served as Chief of Surgery for Face Center Los Angeles from Stanford, Dr. Schendel performs upper and lower jaw surgery, chin reconstruction, UPPP and nasal surgery for sleep apnea, as well as cosmetic surgery such as facelift, browlift and rhinoplasty. After receiving his MD and completing his residency, Dr. Schendel studied in France as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Nantes. He then worked alongside Dr. Paul Tessier, the world-renowned French physician who pioneered craniofacial surgery.
