St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in El Cerrito, CA, traces its roots back to 1908 when it started as a mission before evolving into a parish within the Diocese of Oakland. Offering traditional masses, the church also hosts a Brazilian mass in Portuguese on Sundays at 6 p.m. and a Mandarin mass every fourth Sunday at 2 p.m.
Following the passing of the former pastor, the Rev. John Maxwell, in 2010, the church is now under the leadership of Rev. Thuong Nguyen, with the popular Parochial Vicar, Rev. Today was our first time to attend Mass at this location. We parked at the school lot next door. The church was relatively small, giving a more intimate vibe. Fr. Bart gave a great homily.

I actually only been here once and I came in here for a funeral/mass service. Father came in last minute to be able to accommodate us during this difficult time because no one else was available....
