SPO Partners is a private investment firm that owns shares in enterprises representing a variety of industries and markets. Its investments have included Plum Creek Timber, one of the United States largest private timberland owners with more than 8 million acres of forest throughout the U.S., and Maritz, Wolff & Company, a private real estate investment fund that owns a number of resort properties and luxury hotels operated by Four Seasons, Fairmont, Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood and other luxury hotel management companies. SPO Partners was founded by John Scully, William Oberndorf and William Patterson in 1991. The firm has headquarters in Mill Valley, Calif.
