History

Southern California Ballet Academy, formerly Black Mountain Dance Centre, was established with the goal to offer superior training in classical ballet. Many of our SCB Company alumni have gone on to professional careers on Broadway and both national and international ballet companies, including Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, L.A. Specialties

SCBA is the only dance studio in San Diego County and surrounding areas to offer Cecchetti Ballet Training and annual Cecchetti International exams allowing the student to progress in ballet following an internationally accepted curriculum. Classes in Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Fosse, and Character are offered as well to create a versatile professional student. Elaborate performances are put on annually including The Nutcracker, Spring Repertoire, and Summer Academy Shows at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
