South High School

South High School serves students in grades 9 through 12. It operates various academic departments, such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, and business and technology education. The school additionally offers educational programs in visual and performing arts, foreign languages, agriculture studies, and family and consumer science. South High School has an athletics department that offers a variety of sports activities, such as football, volleyball, cross country, golf, tennis, basketball, wrestling, soccer, baseball, softball, swimming, cheerleading, and track and field. It supports several organizations that include the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), as well as journalism, drama, band, choir, key and yearbook clubs. The school s guidance department provides educational planning, academic assessing and monitoring, and career and personal counseling services. South High School is located in Bakersfield, Calif., and is a part of the Kern High School District.
