Founded in February 1994, the Southern California Health Rehabilitation Program (SCHARP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing mental health and rehabilitation services to vulnerable ethnic minority populations in Southern California. Established by two African American psychiatrists, SCHARP aims to address the unique needs of these communities, as well as those of the homeless mentally ill and individuals with co-occurring disorders.
SCHARP offers a variety of programs designed to enhance personal and community potential through high-impact services. Their initiatives include mental health support for children and youth, integrated care for adults with serious mental illness, and housing services for those experiencing homelessness, all of which focus on maximizing wellness on an individual level.
