Dr. Soroosh Behshad is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. He earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, where he was chief resident, followed by a fellowship in diseases and surgery of the cornea, anterior segment and refractive surgery at UCI Medical Center. He also holds a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in healthcare management from the University of Arizona. Behshad is active within global ophthalmology and international humanitarian programs, performing specialized eye surgeries and training doctors around the world on cataract and corneal surgical techniques. He has worked with international hospitals and ministries of health to develop national eye care plans in developing countries. He is also faculty with Orbis, the flying eye hospital, and is involved with blindness prevention programs in Ethiopia. In 2020, he was recognized by the Kingdom of Jordan for his service and work developing a sustainable eye care program for Syrian refugees. His research interests include keratoconus, pediatric corneal collagen crosslinking, severe ocular surface disease including ocular graft versus host disease, mucous membrane pemphigoid, limbal stem cell deficiency and dry eye.

Dr. Christopher B. Zachary is a UCI Health dermatologist who specializes in skin cancer and reconstruction, as well as cosmetic and laser surgery. In 2005, he accepted the position as professor at the UCI School of Medicine and went on to serve 15 years as chair of its Department of Dermatology. He is a frequent speaker at national and international symposia and is often contact by national media (e.g., the New York Times, CNN, the Today Show) for commentary about dermatologic issues and treatments. He is a past president of the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons. An educational innovator, he has written and edited numerous papers and books.
