SONNET Networking was founded in 1994 under the name Sonora On-line. The name was changed to SONNET Networking in March 1995. Headquartered in Sonora, Calif., with an office in Carson City, Nev., SONNET Networking is a provider of Internet access throughout Northern California and northern Nevada. SONNET provides dial up access via modem and integrated services digital network. DSL service is provided in areas of California and Nevada. Wireless broadband is available in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties in California and Washoe, Douglas and Carson counties in Nevada using ground-based transmission. Wireless doesn't suffer from satellite delay and is often faster than DSL, with speeds up to 2 megabites per second. SONNET also offers e-mail service and virtual domains for business customers.
