Somarts is a cultural center located on Brannan Street in San Francisco, California, known for hosting a variety of exhibitions and events. One of their notable exhibitions was "A Place of Her Own" in 2011, featuring the artwork of Elizabeth Travelslight, which incorporated found furniture, wood, fabric, digital audio, and new and mixed media.
This exhibition was a co-production of the Asian-American Women Artist Association and the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center, as part of APICC's 14th Annual United States of Asian America Festival. It ran from May 5 to May 27, 2011, and included an opening reception, artist talk, literary reading, and closing reception.
