History

In 1941, on the eve of World War II, Milt Sims was selling industrial gases and supplies for a division of Union Carbide when he decided to open a welding fabrication shop called Absco. In 1945, he transformed Absco into a welding supply distributor and, over time, it became the largest independent distributor in the country. In 1965, Milt retired and sold the business. In 1971, M. Kelly Sims--Milt's son and a former salesman for Absco--started Sims Welding Supply with business partner Bob Marshall. Our Present Today Kelly Sims III, son of M. Kelly, along with Dave Johnson, Vice President of Sales, are now responsible for ensuring Sims Welding Supply carries on the tradition of distributor of choice for distinguished clients across Southern California.As always, we remain committed to the spirit of independence and with that, the ability to service our customers with the best on-time delivery and the best products available at competitive prices.
